With their average age of 19, SPO.DEE.O.DEE. were the teenagers of the so-called ‘Amsterdam Guitar School’. The band around singer and guitarist Ross Curry are known for their solid, groovy guitar rock, influenced by rock bands from the 70s, but always with an eye on the current. The trio borrowed their band name from a Stick McGhee rock ‘n’ roll song, but you also might know it as an American name for punch. The trio had an underground hit with the single ‘Lady Sleep’, and ‘STAND UP’ also became a big radio hit on the alternative VPRO radio programme ‘NOZEMS-A-GOGO’. The band was active between 1988 and 1994, until they retired after 25 years.
On 27 November, the band will give an intimate performance in our UP hall, taking you straight back to 1989, in their original line-up. Ear plugs still advised!
