20:00 Doors 20:30 Belly (1998)
Milk Made presents: Sounds & Scores, a celebration of favourite soundtracks and scores. Sometimes you are drawn to a film purely because of its soundtrack; it plays a crucial role in cinema. This first edition focuses on the rhythms of the 1998 crime drama Belly, curated by film enthusiast Tina Khojastehpay. She will give a short introduction and producer Eno Zua will treat before and after the film to an inspired mix that pays homage to this cinematic gem. Next editions will be on 7 April with films selected by Kensuke Ushio and on 16 May with the timeless soundscape of Scarface (1983).
In Belly Tommy and Sincere, two childhood friends, become involved in the world of crime and drug trafficking in New York City. As they rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld, they confront issues of loyalty, betrayal, and the consequences of their choices. 26 years later, the soundtrack remains one of the top hip hop soundtracks of all time, including tracks from DMX, Nas, Method Man, Ja Rule, JAY-Z, Mya, Sean Paul, and more.
