After meeting in the romantic nighttime setting of an old Amsterdam pub, Marleen Hoebe and Jesse Koch decided to become partners in life - and later, music. This became the foundation for the artistic duo Silver Lake. In terms of sound, parallels can be drawn with artists such as Alexandra Saviour, Lana del Rey and The Last Shadow Puppets - as well as longtime troubadours such as Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. Through modern production techniques hand in hand with old analogue equipment, Silver Lake manages to create a synthesis of a vintage, yet contemporary sound.
At the beginning of this year, Silver Lake released their debut single 'Under The Silver Lake', featuring a pair of scuba tanks and an underwater guitar solo in the video. Three more singles followed later: 'Violet', 'Beaches' and 'Put Me Under'.
On Friday March 31, the duo will perform in our Upstairs with brand new material from their upcoming debut album!
