Shelter is coming to Melkweg in 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic album 'Mantra'. Released in 1993, this album stands as a milestone in “Krishna-Core” – a unique fusion of hardcore punk and the spiritual teachings of Krishna consciousness. 'Mantra' not only helped shape the hardcore scene but also inspired a generation searching for deeper meaning through music.
Ray Cappo, frontman and co-founder of both Shelter and Youth of Today, describes the essence of 'Mantra': “The greatest illusion is to think we are only our bodies. Mantra reminds us that we are so much more.” This message runs through all of Shelter’s work, reflecting their drive to use hardcore not only as a rebellious outlet but also as a path for personal reflection and inner growth.
