When did this street culture from the US gain a foothold in the Netherlands? How did hiphop dance develop here? Who were the Dutch pioneers and who are the heroes of tomorrow? This Sunday afternoon, Hiphop dance festival Summer Dance Forever invites some pillars of the Dutch hiphop dance scene for a conversation. Discover the personal, inspiring and sometimes surprising stories behind the bboys and hiphop dancers then and now. With (amongst others) HipHopHuis co-founder and Gouden Zwaan winner Lloyd Marengo, B-girl, co-founder and general director of HipHopHuis Aruna Vermeulen, first and second generation B-boys Paulo Nunes, Maikel Walker (Rotterdam) and Henk Bakboord, Popski and Jur Bouterse (Amsterdam), and new generation B-girl Pauline who won the Red Bull BC One Holland Cypher in Rotterdam earlier this year.
Summer Dance Forever is an important international Hiphop dance festival. Dancers and audiences from around the world gather in the city of Amsterdam each year in August to enjoy this international dance feast, packed with the best of today and the great promises of tomorrow. Organized in several venues around town, Summer Dance Forever presents a great variety of dance performances, next level battles, soulful club nights, workshops to refresh and boost your skills, inspiring films and lectures, and more. This year's festival takes place from 22-28 August at Paradiso, DeLaMar, ITA and Melkweg. For the complete program and tickets check the website!
