Visit our Qalb Mahmood exhibition during Museumnacht!
On November 2, during Museumnacht, Melkweg Expo opens its doors for a very special evening. Immerse yourself in the intriguing world of Qalb Mahmood, an exhibition by Abdulaziz Al-Hosni, presented in collaboration with WePresent by WeTransfer and Melkweg Expo. In Qalb Mahmood, Aziz challenges traditional views on masculinity and the strict gender norms that sometimes define Omani culture. Through his lens, he invites viewers to rethink the fluidity of identity, offering a more inclusive and dynamic perspective. By celebrating freedom and embracing vulnerability, Aziz’s work transcends conventional narratives, revealing the complex nuances of masculinity and love.
Aziz explores these themes within a futuristic, utopian context, encouraging viewers to reconsider the "authentic self" and the fluidity of gender roles, validating alternative perspectives and self-representations.
For Museumnacht, we have curated a special program. Enjoy music, a Q&A session, and write a love letter to yourself.
Q&A with Haroon Ali x Aziz
We invite you to pause and reflect on who you are and embrace that person with love. You can do so by joining the Q&A with Aziz, led by Haroon Ali. =Haroon Ali is an award-winning journalist and writer from Amsterdam. He writes for De Volkskrant and Noordhollands Dagblad. His books ‘Half’ and ‘Spectrum’ explore Dutch-Pakistani identity and queer diversity. His documentary ‘Het M-woord’ on homosexuality in Muslim communities won De Tegel, the top Dutch journalism award. Haroon is also a public speaker on identity and inclusion.

Workshop: How to write a love letter to yourself
Leendert Vooijce will guide you on a heartfelt journey to write a letter to yourself. A letter where you learn to embrace that one challenging side of yourself, be a little kinder to yourself, or simply put yourself in the spotlight of self-love. From this place of self-compassion, it becomes easier to extend kindness to others as well.
At our Milk Café, treat yourself to Arabic snacks and drinks, and show yourself some love.
