Marijke Bot (1997) is a visual artist from Amsterdam. Her alias Lucibratio is derived from “lucubratio,” which means working by candlelight or evening study. After completing her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, she noticed that the academic field is largely focused on efficiency and acceleration. In her artistic practice, she focuses on slowing down and allows the viewer to pause. The exhibition ‘Offside’ takes place in the area between attention and distraction. A wait-and-see approach gradually transforms into a foreboding atmosphere. "Offside" invites you to linger longer in a moment. Or do you rush ahead, clouding the valuable experiences of the here and now?
