Especially for Pride & Prejudice, we have selected three great queer period films addressing themes of forbidden love, homosexuality and the female gaze. Two films will screen in the Cinema and the series will conclude with a free screening at the Vondelpark Open Air Theater!
Maurice is a British period drama starring Hugh Grant and James Wilby after the titular novel by E.M. Forster. Loosely based on Forster's own life, the novel describes a love that dare not speak its name in 1914. The novel was not published until 1970. The two lead actors were awarded for their performances at the Venice Film Festival.
