19:30 Doors 20:30 Marcos Valle
From samba and bossa to psychedelic MPB and beach boogie, Marcos Valle is undoubtedly one of the most important composers, arrangers, writers and performers in Brazil's history.
The Brazilian singer's influence and musical width is quite remarkable, with previous collabs including Leon Ware, Sarah Vaughan and Chicago, and having been sampled by none other than Jay Z, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Madlib and Kaytranada. Valle's songs are also in demand as covers, with versions by Frank Sinatra, Bebel Gilberto and even a Spice Girl (Emma Bunton).
Valle celebrates his 80th birthday this year, thus all the more reason for a return to Europe! This moment will coincide with a festive reissue celebrating the 20th anniversary of his long out-of-print 2003 modern classic "Contrasts", aptly titled 'Parabens' (Congratulations).
On 7 August, we welcome the Brazilian pop icon with his sunny and laidback sound to our OZ hall!
