Australian band King Stingray is all about lifelong friendship. The band members grew up together in Arnhem Land, a remote Aboriginal community in the far north of Australia — something that shines through in their unique Yolŋu surf-rock sound: a blend of traditional Indigenous melodies with influences from surf, indie, and funk.
Language, culture, and nature are at the heart of their music. They sing in a mix of English and Yolŋu Matha, their traditional language. You can hear this fusion on their two albums — King Stingray (2022) and For The Dreams (2024) — which firmly cemented their place in the Australian music scene.
After touring with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, they’re hitting the road again for a stop at Melkweg. Grab your friends (and a drink) and chill out!
