Born on the bustling streets of Oakland, California, Hieroglyphics is a crucial pillar of the underground hip-hop scene. Led by visionary MCs and producers such as Del the Funky Homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Casual, Pep Love and Domino, the crew has created a unique identity by blending complex lyrics with eclectic, often jazz-inspired beats.

The collective produced critically acclaimed albums such as Del's "I Wish My Brother George Was Here" and Souls of Mischief's "93 'Til Infinity. The group is also considered a major influence on many artists, from A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots to Andre 3000, Eminem, Kanye West, De La Soul, Wu-Tang and Mos Def.
