Dion Rosina - The mountain is high

Dion Rosina's work begins with a deep dive into research. He searches for intriguing stories, crucial moments from history, mysteries bordering on the supernatural and unexplained phenomena, as well as mythologies from the African diaspora. He gathers various images that play a role in these stories, which can include anything from photos of the cosmos to artifacts from ancient cultures and even jazz photography. By first combining these images into a collage and then painting them on canvas, he gives a unique twist to the original story, creating an even deeper and more complex narrative. Through his work, Rosina highlights the fragile nature of our reality and demonstrates a clear interest in underrepresented histories, immigration, oppression, and alienation.
