Coraline (2009)

Together with Kaboom Animation Festival, we are celebrating the 15th anniversary of this acclaimed stop-motion epic that has enchanted fans around the world since its release in 2009. The film will be introduced by Ruud Vos, film programmer at LUX Nijmegen and animation enthusiast.

Coraline is a wondrous, fun and thrilling adventure for young and old, from the pioneering film studio LAIKA (Kubo and the Two Strings, ParaNorman, the upcoming Wildwood). A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. At first glance, this parallel reality looks eerily similar to her real life, only much better. But when this wonderful and fantastical adventure becomes dangerous and her fake parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must rely on her resourcefulness, determination and courage to save her family and get back home. Coraline was the very first animated film to be designed and photographed in true stereoscopic 3D.
