Cavolo Nero originated from a love for afrobeat and groove-oriented music. Drawing inspiration from artists like Nu Genea, Khruangbin, and Jungle by Night, the six-piece band from Utrecht combines psychedelic grooves with indie and disco elements. Expect a lot of energy and the urge to dance to highly infectious rhythms.
Since the release of their debut single 'Seaweed' in 2022, the band has performed at various venues and festivals such as Mañana Mañana, Valkhof Festival, Bevrijdingsfestival Nijmegen, Paradiso Noord, and a sold-out show at Cinetol during their EP release. They also participated in Popronde 2022, playing over 50 shows in their first year, and kicked of 2023 with a spot at Noorderslag.
In May 2023, their latest single was released, marking the start of a wonderful summer. With over 30 festivals lined up, including Down The Rabbit Hole, Into The Great Wide Open, Wildeburg and Zwarte Cross, 2023 promised to be a fantastic summer for the band. In early 2024. Cavolo nero will release their new EP and embark on a tour throughout the country.
