African Head Charge mixed by Adrian Sherwood / Mad Professor feat. Earl 16 / Gaudi e.a.

Amsterdam Dub Event is back for a deep dose of dub during ADE, with this time On-U-Sound legends African Head Charge with live dub mix from producer and label owner Adrian Sherwood, dub master Mad Professor featuring Earl 16, and the Anglo-Italian producer Gaudi. Completing the line-up will be Krackfree Soundsystem from Eindhoven, Amsterdam's own Rub-a-Dub Ramses and Lyrical Benjie, plus of course your host Paulisme!

Formed in 1980, African Head Charge is led by UK producer Adrian Sherwood and Jamaican percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah. The project started off as a heavy experimental Dub combination of Post-Punk and Jazz, mixed up with traditional Rasta drumming outside the realms of Reggae music. Some legendary albums from the band are "My Life In A Hole In The Ground", "Off The Beaten Track" and "In Pursuit Of Shashamane Land", to name a few. After releasing eleven original albums in a period of thirty years Bonjo decided to retire for a while to raise up new inspiration. Twelve years later this led to the exceptionally well received new album "A Trip To Bolgatanga". At this event African Head Charge is the headliner, mixed LIVE by Adrian Sherwood himself!

For more than four decades Adrian Sherwood has been constantly breaking ground and his name is celebrated by anyone with any interest in Dub, Reggae, Post-Punk, Industrial, Bass Music and Experimentalism. As the founder of the cult and fiercely independent On-U-Sound label he has brought bands and artists like Creation Rebel, New Age Steppers, African Head Charge, Dub Syndicate as well as many others to international attention. Adrian's name also draws reverence for his highly acclaimed work with the likes of Lee "Scratch" Perry, Prince Far I, Junior Delagado, I Roy, Mikey Dread, and recently a critically acclaimed album with Horace Andy. Apart from mixing African Head Charge LIVE this event, he will also do a one hour DJ set with Dubplates of his own!

Guyana born Neil Joseph Stephen Fraser, known by his stage-name Mad Professor, is a British dub producer, engineer and remixer. He has collaborated with Reggae artists such as Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sly & Robbie, Pato Banton, Jah Shaka, Macka B and Horace Andy, as well as artists outside the realm of traditional Reggae and Dub, like Sade, Massive Attack, The Orb, Gaudi, Grace Jones and Perry Farrell. This night he will be dubbing no-one else than the legendary Earl 16 in a Sound System style! Since the early 80s Earl 16 has released numerous albums both in Jamaica with the likes of King Jammy a.o. and in the UK with Mad Professor and Gussie P. Of course he is also well known as the Reggae voice in the productions of Leftfield and Dreadzone.

A global favourite in the Dub/Electronica scenes, producer and solo artist Gaudi's infectious bass-driven sound has contributed to productions, collaborations, songwriting and remixes for acts including: The Orb, Steel Pulse, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Tricky, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Simple Minds, Lamb, Horace Andy, Groove Armada, Deep Forest, Mad Professor, Sizzla, Pete Namlook, Shpongle, Elisa...His extremely vibrant solo acts are always a mix of DJ set and live instruments and he will for sure raise the roof as final act of this event! 

The KrackFree Soundsystem is from a group of dedicated music enthusiasts, DJ's, producers, and event promoters who have been deeply involved in the music scene since the 90's. After an eye-opening experience at the Outlook Festival in Croatia and introduction to the formidable UK Soundsystem culture, they decided to build their own Soundsystem from the ground up. Today, they proudly boast a total of four Stacks that stand as a testament to their dedication and innovative DIY-spirit. Through their endeavors, KrackFree Soundsystem seeks to ignite a new wave of appreciation for the Soundsystem culture, inspiring and nurturing the next generation of enthusiasts and creators.

Amsterdam locals and internationally well known Reggae veterans Rub-a-Dub Ramses and Lyrical Benjie will kick off this event. Both have been performing all over Europe and beyond for over 30 years, they have been doing shows together for a period of time as well. With Ramses on the decks playing Dubs and Riddims and Lyrical Benjie on the mic these guys will instantly set the mood and propel you into the vibes of this fantastic event!

Paulisme is the initiator of the Amsterdam Dub Event. He started it during ADE to get acknowledgement for dub music as being one of the pillars for dance music. No Dub, No Dance! Rub-A-Dub Ramses and Paulisme teamed up to make Amsterdam Dub Event a household name. Paulisme will be hosting the evening!
